The world’s second-largest automaker Toyota Motor Corp. is planning to pick northeast Mississippi to build $1.3 billion plant to accomplish heavy demand of sporty vehicles in the States.

Toyota at a conference with Mississippi politicians on Tuesday reportedly said that the factory is due to open in 2010 to manufacture about 150,000 Highlander sport-utility vehicles a year at plant site in Blue Springs, 20 miles northwest of Tupelo.

The plant is estimated to built on 1,700-acre site which include metal-stamping operations and will look ahead to employ approximately 2,000 people.
